How much shoulder ultrasound experience do you have?
The two scales suit different users. Pick the one that matches your experience — you can switch at any time.
FECTS — composite score summing five parameters: Fibrillar matrix, Echogenicity, Contour, Thickness, Suture placement.
Total range: 5–14. Recommended for less-experienced raters (the paper found the FECTS scale had better inter-rater reliability for medical students and fellows than a global score).
RCR-IGA — single 5-point global stage. Stage 1 = most mature, Stage 5 = complete retear.
Faster (~11 s/image vs. 23 s for FECTS) and preferred by experienced sonographers and surgeons.
